Books

When I first tested my DNA in 2017 with all the major sites, I gleaned most of my knowledge from genealogy blogs and forums. There are some great online resources out there. But sometimes it’s great to have a body of knowledge packaged up into book format.

The Family Tree Guide to DNA Testing and Genetic Genealogy

Read my full review to see why Blaine Bettinger’s book is my “Best Buy” pick for genetic genealogy. I’ve got the 2nd edition e-book from Amazon, but if you’re purchasing the book in print be sure to get the latest edition.

The book gives detailed coverage to interpreting DNA results from the top consumer DNA companies. Some features of these companies have changed since publication. I’ve called those out in my review. But that’s a minor quibble.

I don’t hesitate to recommend this as a great resource when researching your heritage and family tree.
